Welcome to the World of Amphoria!
Amphoria began in 2025 with a simple passion: to work with our hands, create things meant to last, and pursue the timeless art of woodworking.
Our journey into woodturning started with a deep admiration for craftsmanship — the patience, creativity, tradition, and skill that transform raw materials into something personal and enduring. Along the way, we were fortunate to learn from talented mentors with decades of woodworking and woodturning experience who helped shape both our skills and our philosophy.
The Meaning Behind Amphoria
The name Amphoria was inspired by the word Amphora — an urn.
For us, an urn represents something far greater than a decorative object. It carries memory, love, respect, and legacy. The selection of an urn is often one of the final acts of care a family gives to someone they cherish deeply, and that emotional connection became one of the foundations of Amphoria itself.
The Beginning of the Insert System
As we began creating urns, lidded boxes, and other turned pieces, we quickly discovered a challenge. We loved the idea of threaded lids — secure, elegant closures that felt natural to the piece — yet traditional thread chasing by hand required a level of mastery far beyond where we were in our woodworking journey at the time.
Unable to find a solution that offered the quality, precision, and reliability we believed makers deserved, we set out to create our own.
That pursuit eventually became the Amphoria Insert System.
From the beginning, our goal was never simply to create threaded inserts. We wanted to design a system that blended engineering, woodworking, and artistry into something dependable, refined, and enjoyable to use. Precision tolerances, smooth engagement, and lasting durability matter deeply to us because we use the very same products in our own creations as well.
Our Philosophy
At Amphoria, we believe craftsmanship is not defined solely by perfection.
True craftsmanship is found in the care, patience, and heart someone pours into creating something with their own hands. A piece does not need to belong in a museum to carry significance. Often, the most cherished creations are those that hold stories, memories, and emotional connection for the people who receive them.
Built With Makers
Today, Amphoria exists as both a workshop and a community — built with makers, artisans, woodturners, and creators who share a passion for meaningful craftsmanship. Many of our ideas and product lines have been inspired directly by conversations with fellow makers and customers alike. We listen because the woodworking community itself has helped shape Amphoria into what it is today.
While our tools embrace modern innovation, our values remain rooted in old-world craftsmanship: quality, integrity, creativity, patience, and respect for the work itself.
Why We Continue to Create
Because the things made by hand are rarely just objects.
They become part of our homes, our stories, our memories, and sometimes even our legacy.
And that is why we continue to create.
